Rationale

  There is no precedent available in the literature for a simulation model that can test the hypotheses in table 1.2. In this section, the justification for creating a new recreational boat traffic simulation is discussed. Section 2.1.1 discusses issues regarding formulation of simulation, section 2.1.2 discusses the desired characteristics of a boat traffic simulation to answer the questions posed in figure 1.5. Section 2.2 reviews what simulations are available in the published literature that are relevant to this simulation, and section 2.3 discusses the properties of recreational boat traffic that are important in this simulation.
